Plant Description
Viola palustris is a reliable herbaceous perennial, with purple flowers from spring into autumn and green deciduous foliage. This Viola is an excellent choice for borders, containers, patio pots and ground cover, where it brings colour, texture and seasonal interest. It is especially effective from spring into autumn, and performs best in a sunny spot.
Viola palustris is low-maintenance once established and suits a wide range of garden styles, from traditional borders to more contemporary planting combinations. Reaching around 0.2m at maturity, it is best planted at the front of a border and in pots and containers with a sunny spot. As a deciduous plant, it brings a fresh flush of new growth each season. It is suitable for outdoor growing in most UK gardens. It performs best in clay, sandy or loam soils that remain well drained. It can also be a useful plant for bees and beneficial insects.
Supplied in a 9cm pot, this size offers a practical starting point for planting out, patio displays or growing on at home.
