Plant Description

Raspberry Glen Lyon is a productive fruiting plant grown for the appeal of Rubus idaeus 'Glen Lyon', with white flowers in spring and green deciduous foliage. This Raspberry is an excellent choice for borders, where it brings colour, texture and seasonal interest. It is especially effective in spring, and performs best in a sunny spot.

Raspberry Glen Lyon is ideal for kitchen gardens, productive borders and patio growing, offering ornamental value as well as a useful harvest. This variety is self-fertile, making it especially easy to grow in smaller spaces or as a standalone plant. Reaching around 1.8m at maturity, it is best planted towards the back of a border with a sunny spot. As a deciduous plant, it brings a fresh flush of new growth each season. It is suitable for outdoor growing in most UK gardens. It performs best in clay, sandy or loam soils that remain well drained. It can also be a useful plant for bees, birds and beneficial insects.

Supplied in a 3L pot, this size offers a practical starting point for planting out, patio displays or growing on at home.

Planting & Aftercare

Choose a pot with drainage holes slightly larger than the nursery pot. Use well-draining potting mix. Place the plant at the same depth it was in the original pot. Water thoroughly after planting.
Water when the top 2-3cm of soil feels dry. In spring and summer, this is typically once a week. Reduce watering in autumn and winter. Always check the soil before watering to avoid overwatering.
Overwatering is the most common issue. Avoid placing in direct sunlight which can scorch leaves. Don't repot too frequently - most plants prefer to be slightly root-bound. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn). Reduce or stop feeding in winter when growth naturally slows.
