Plant Description

The Japanese Garden Starter Collection is a carefully chosen mix of acers, flowering shrubs, evergreen structure and elegant foliage plants, designed to create a calm, balanced and Japanese-inspired garden scheme. Featuring Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum', Acer palmatum 'Orangeola', Prunus 'Kojo-no-mai', Pieris japonica 'Mountain Fire', Bloombux Magenta, Skimmia japonica 'Temptation', Fatsia japonica, Nandina domestica 'Twilight' and Hosta 'Halcyon', this collection is ideal for creating a peaceful, layered garden with year-round interest.

Perfect for courtyard spaces, shaded borders and oriental-style planting schemes, this Japanese garden collection combines fine foliage, seasonal colour and evergreen form. Acers bring elegant leaf shape and autumn colour, while Prunus 'Kojo-no-mai' adds delicate spring blossom. Pieris, skimmia, fatsia, nandina and hosta provide structure, texture and shade-tolerant interest, helping to create a calm and considered planting style suited to tranquil garden spaces.

Supplied as a curated starter collection in mixed pot sizes, this set is a practical way to begin creating a Japanese-inspired garden, woodland-style border or peaceful patio planting scheme.

Planting & Aftercare

Choose a pot with drainage holes slightly larger than the nursery pot. Use well-draining potting mix. Place the plant at the same depth it was in the original pot. Water thoroughly after planting.
Water when the top 2-3cm of soil feels dry. In spring and summer, this is typically once a week. Reduce watering in autumn and winter. Always check the soil before watering to avoid overwatering.
Overwatering is the most common issue. Avoid placing in direct sunlight which can scorch leaves. Don't repot too frequently - most plants prefer to be slightly root-bound. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn). Reduce or stop feeding in winter when growth naturally slows.
