Plant Description

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Groundbreaker Blush’ is a pioneering, low-growing panicle hydrangea bred to form a spreading mound only around 40cm tall. It produces an exceptional display of flowers for up to 100 days, with large panicles developing beautiful blush-pink tones as they mature.

Its compact, ground-covering habit makes it ideal for the front of borders, small gardens, containers and mass planting. The fresh green deciduous foliage provides an attractive backdrop to the long-lasting summer flowers, while the neat size makes it easy to position in smaller spaces.

Plant in sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing and prune lightly in early spring to remove old flowerheads and encourage strong new flowering growth.

Planting & Aftercare

Choose a pot with drainage holes slightly larger than the nursery pot. Use well-draining potting mix. Place the plant at the same depth it was in the original pot. Water thoroughly after planting.
Water when the top 2-3cm of soil feels dry. In spring and summer, this is typically once a week. Reduce watering in autumn and winter. Always check the soil before watering to avoid overwatering.
Overwatering is the most common issue. Avoid placing in direct sunlight which can scorch leaves. Don't repot too frequently - most plants prefer to be slightly root-bound. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn). Reduce or stop feeding in winter when growth naturally slows.
