Plant Description

Fuchsia 'Madame Cornelissen' is a colourful bedding plant, with red / purple flowers from summer into autumn and green semi-evergreen foliage. This Fuchsia is an excellent choice for borders, containers, woodland-style planting and ground cover, where it brings colour, texture and seasonal interest. It is especially effective from summer into autumn, and performs best in sun or partial shade.

Fuchsia 'Madame Cornelissen' is ideal for filling containers, hanging baskets and seasonal bedding schemes with sustained colour and a tidy, garden-ready appearance. It works well on its own or mixed with complementary varieties for a fuller summer display. Reaching around 1m at maturity, it is best planted at the front of a border and in pots and containers with sun or partial shade. It is suitable for outdoor growing in most UK gardens. It performs best in clay or loam soils that remain well drained. It can also be a useful plant for bees and beneficial insects.

Supplied as young seasonal planting stock, this format is ideal for quick colour in pots, baskets and borders.

Planting & Aftercare

Choose a pot with drainage holes slightly larger than the nursery pot. Use well-draining potting mix. Place the plant at the same depth it was in the original pot. Water thoroughly after planting.
Water when the top 2-3cm of soil feels dry. In spring and summer, this is typically once a week. Reduce watering in autumn and winter. Always check the soil before watering to avoid overwatering.
Overwatering is the most common issue. Avoid placing in direct sunlight which can scorch leaves. Don't repot too frequently - most plants prefer to be slightly root-bound. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn). Reduce or stop feeding in winter when growth naturally slows.
