Plant Description

Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald 'n' Gold' Standard - Stem is an evergreen topiary plant grown for the appeal of Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald 'n'Gold' and green evergreen foliage. This Euonymus is an excellent choice for borders, containers, woodland-style planting, patio pots and ground cover, where it brings colour, texture and seasonal interest. It performs best in sun or partial shade and rewards the right position with reliable garden performance.

Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald 'n' Gold' Standard - Stem offers year-round structure and is perfect for framing entrances, punctuating borders or bringing formality to a patio or courtyard garden. Its lollipop form gives a neat, clipped finish that works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary planting schemes. Reaching around 0.6m at maturity, it is best planted at the front of a border, in pots and containers and as a specimen plant with sun or partial shade. Its evergreen foliage ensures year-round presence in the garden. It is suitable for outdoor growing in most UK gardens. It performs best in clay or loam soils that remain well drained. It can also be a useful plant for birds and hedgehogs.

Supplied in a 3L pot, this size offers a practical starting point for planting out, patio displays or growing on at home.

Planting & Aftercare

Choose a pot with drainage holes slightly larger than the nursery pot. Use well-draining potting mix. Place the plant at the same depth it was in the original pot. Water thoroughly after planting.
Water when the top 2-3cm of soil feels dry. In spring and summer, this is typically once a week. Reduce watering in autumn and winter. Always check the soil before watering to avoid overwatering.
Overwatering is the most common issue. Avoid placing in direct sunlight which can scorch leaves. Don't repot too frequently - most plants prefer to be slightly root-bound. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn). Reduce or stop feeding in winter when growth naturally slows.
